Chris joined the WHLT news team in June 2007 and has covered everything from explosions of the Shubuta pipeline and the Chevron Plant Explosion in Pascagoula, to Hillary Clinton's visit to Hattiesburg during the Democratic primaries. His piece on the illegal dumping of tires in a Hattiesburg neighborhood earned him a Mississippi Associated Press Award for Best Investigative Reporting. Chris got started in the television news business when he interned at WTTG in Washington, D.C., his hometown. He also interned at the Washington news desk for the CBS Evening News with Bob Schieffer in 2005. From there, he was a reporter for Maryland Newsline, a news stations operated by the University of Maryland-College Park, his alma mater. Chris says living in the Hub City has been an experience, but he enjoys the southern cooking, the southern hospitality, and the comfortable southern living.
