Doctors Prescribing Exercise to Patients

»  Comments | Post a Comment

"This is my first day."

Barbara Ross and her husband started exercising at Anatomies gym this week as part of the Gateway Program.

"What people often neglect to do is incorporate exercise into part of their lifestyle change."

Lee Armstrong is the Program Director.
She says exercise is a great way to improve your health - and now doctors can prescribe exercise through the Gateway program.

"Mostly family practitioners because those are the doctors that see patients the most, that work with them on the closest basis and they can sometimes really be involved in their patients care."

Ross says it's only her first day at the gym - but she's having fun.

"It's been fun. I was so scared because a lot of gyms you go to they have tricks to get you in there and there's nobody there to see about you."

"This is a broad program for a range of different conditions that will allow anybody who needs exercise whether it's for weight loss or high blood pressure, high cholesterol, for type 2 diabetes, any medical condition that could be a reason a person could benefit from an exercise program is a great reason to refer them for this program."
