Petal Selects Boyles as Head Coach

"We just lost a great football coach. And the job for myself and Steve Simmons, Principal at Petal High School, was to find another great football coach."

     Steve Buckley coached at Petal High School for 5 years before taking a job with USM.
     But Superintendent Dr. John Buchanan says the search for a replacement didn't take long.

"It is my great pleasure to introduce our new Athletic Director and leader of Panther football Coach Marcus Boyles."

"I want us to be a major player in 6A football."

     During a press conference at the Petal High School Field House Wednesday, Boyles talked about his plans for the Panthers -

"All the coaches I'm hoping are going to stay. I have no intention of bringing anybody with me."

     - and how he plans to win games.

"I don't care what we're doing on offense. We're going to be no huddle and I want to be up-tempo. I like the faster pace. I think it can catch some defenses off guard."

     Boyles also said he likes the high level of academics and fine arts that the school offers.
