Another two-vehicle accident at a direct crossover on Highway 84 East sent two females to the hospital Thursday afternoon, February 2.
Volunteer rescue units and medical first responders from Powers and M&M VFDs were dispatched at approximately 1:15 p.m. to the accident that occurred at the intersection of Lawnhaven Church Road and Highway 84 East where a blue Dodge Charger was traveling west on Highway 84 East when a white Ford Mustang crossed the median and continued across the westbound lanes of the highway colliding with the Dodge Charger. Both vehicles left the road and came to a stop at a nearby embankment.
Both female drivers, ages 20 and 23, were transported to SCRMC by EmServ with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Also responding to the accident were newly appointed EMA Director Lance Chancellor, Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna, Jones County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
