SumaGrow Changing Sustainable Agriculture

»  Comments | Post a Comment

"Mostly we look into the mass production of this product and also the quality of this product."

Dr. Lalithakumari Janarthanam is the Director of Research and Development for SumaGrow in Hattiesburg.
She says her job is to develop new technology so that SumaGrow can be used for a wide range of crops.

"It's a poly-microbial, multi-functional formulation for sustainable agriculture."

In layman's terms, SumaGrow is a base that recreates the organic material that you find in soil.
That means that farmers see bigger, better crops and more money for bigger yields.

"The other benefits of the product include remediating any contaminants that are in the soil, provide nutrients for what we eat."

Adding nutrients to the food we eat means getting a healthier diet.
But SumaGrow also prevents chemicals from getting into water runoffs and contaminating water supplies, lakes and rivers.
Wayne Wade is President of the SumaGrow company and one of the founders.
He says the big question while developing the product has been how can SumaGrow change the way we farm.

"You know, what are we going to leave for the people behind us."
