PURVIS, Miss. (AP) - Lamar County School Board President Craig "Buddy" Morris has resigned his position as president of the board in the wake of his arrest on a variety of charges, including DUI refusal.
Superintendent Ben Burnett told the Hattiesburg American (http://hatne.ws/wWVyr4) that he received an email from Morris Tuesday announcing his resignation as board president effective immediately.
Burnett says Morris will continue as a board member.
Raymond Police arrested Morris Jan. 24 for DUI refusal, reckless driving and failure to yield. He was released the next day after posting $2,000 bond.
Morris, 47, of Sumrall is in his fourth year as a member of the board.
