Third Grader Faces Punishment For Bringing Grenade to School

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A third grader in Smith County could face expulsion or suspension after bringing a grenade to school.

The boy brought the grenage to Mize Attendance Center Thursday morning for show and tell.

A bomb squad from Clinton determined that the grenade was not live when it was brought into school but Principal David Burris says school policies about this type of behavior are very strict.

The boy will go before the school board to determine his punishment.

"I had my 16 year old son text me from inside the school and told me what was going on."

"Fearful. Scared. Just mother instinct. Very scared."

Burris says the boys parents have been interviewed and they know where he got the grenade but could not release that information.
