An Ovett man face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and probation violation after Jones County Narcotic Deputies received information that the suspect, 23 year old Jason Holmes had reportedly escaped from Walnut Grove Restitution Center in Leake County several weeks ago.
Sheriff Alex Hodge said, “We received information that Jason Holmes was residing at a relative’s home on Ovett-Moselle Cut off Road and after further investigation deputies arrived at the residence and discovered that the suspect was in possession of a large amount of precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine and a non-active meth lab.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center and charged with probation violation, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursors.
He was later transported to a local hospital by EMSERV Ambulance after reporting that he had become ill from ingesting a large amount of methamphetamine. Holmes told authorities that he ingested the drugs after he discovered that Narcotic Deputies were at his residence.
Holmes remained in critical condition as of Thursday, added Hodge.
