HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The University of Southern Mississippi
will consolidate graduation programs into one event next May to
coincide with the school's 100th anniversary.
Spring commencement ceremonies are scheduled for 9 a.m. on May
15, 2010, in M.M. Roberts Stadium on the Hattiesburg campus.
USM Provost Bob Lyman says planning is also under way by various
colleges and departments to include separate, complementary events
for students and their families.
USM officials expect about 1,600 graduates.
USM typically holds two May ceremonies in Hattiesburg and one on
the Gulf Coast while December graduates normally participate in one
Hattiesburg ceremony.
A Gulf Coast graduation ceremony will return to the schedule in
May 2011.
