William Carey announces $1M grant

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - William Carey University has received a $1 million grant from the Asbury Foundation of Hattiesburg for construction of the school’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The new school is a three-phase project that will cost approximately $10.4 million.

William Carey broke ground for the school in May.

Classes are scheduled to begin in fall of 2010.

The Asbury Foundation was created in 1984 as the nonprofit service arm of Wesley Medical Center. It supports educational and health programs in the Hattiesburg area.
