(Hattiesburg, MS, February 3, 2010)  On Monday February 1st, Mike Pascarella, Habitat’s Construction & Operations Manager, discovered that our unmarked tool trailer filled with valuable Habitat tools was stolen from the Celeste Place site located at 1741 Edwards Street.

“We have two large projects planned to begin at the end of February and are hoping to put two families who have been displaced since Hurricane Katrina in new houses by April of this year,”  stated Mike Pascarella.  “Over 5 out-of-state groups are planning to come to Hattiesburg and we already have several USM and William Carey students signed up to help build for these two families.  These tools are vital to making these projects happen.”

Nearly $9000 dollars of equipment was taken from the site, including a 10’ Pace enclosed trailer, 10’ metal break, 2- 20’extension ladders, 2- 10’ step ladders, 20’ aluminum walk board, 16’ aluminum walk board, kitchen sink, 20 galloon air compressor, 30 galloons of pain, 2 rolls of house wrap, 25 door knobs, 100 plumbing fittings, 100 pieces of electrical supplies, towel racks, and one set of ladder jacks.

If you have information on the location of these stolen items, please contact staff at 601-582-4663 or you can call the Hattiesburg Police Department at 601-544-7900.  Anyone interested in donating tools can do so by bringing them to the Habitat office located at 5191 Hwy 42.  If you would like to make a monetary donation to help us replace these tools, you can go drop off your financial contribution at the Habitat office or by going online at http://www.hattiesburghabitat.org/donate.
