Jones Co. Man Arrested at Weekend Safety Checkpoint

A Jones County man remains behind bars today after being charged by Deputies for drugs.

Sheriff Alex Hodge identified the suspect as: 26 year old Derrell Ducksworth of the 600 block of Mason Creek Road of Taylorsville.

Jones County Deputies were conducting a routine safety checkpoint when it was discovered that Ducksworth was operating a vehicle on suspended license.  A consent to search the vehicle revealed an undetermined amount of cocaine and marijuana.  Also, confiscated from Ducksworth was approximately $700 in U.S. Currency, according to Sheriff Hodge.

Ducksworth was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana. He was booked in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility without incident. A local towing company took possession of the vehicle.

Hodge added, “We will not slow down our efforts to combat the use and sell of illegal drugs in Jones County.”
