HEIDELBERG, Miss. (AP) - Authorities have charged a Jasper
County woman with embezzling more than $100,000 from a church.
Jasper County Sheriff Kenneth Cross said Phyllis Daughdrill was
arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing the money from Corinth
Baptist Church of Heidelberg, where she was the secretary for
nearly 10 years.
Cross said Daughdrill was charged with one count of
embezzlement.
Cross said the exact amount allegedly taken from the church
hasn’t been determined but it’s expected to exceed $100,000.
Daughdrill did not immediately respond Sunday to a message left
at her home.
The Laurel Leader-Call reported that she was released on a
$10,000 bond.
